The unit starts with a built-in iPod docking station, which works with the iPod 3G, iPod 4G (click wheel), iPod photo 4G, iPod video 5G and 5.5G, iPod mini, iPod shuffle, and iPod nano 1G and 2G. Thanks to the docking station, you can play, charge, and sync your iPod all at once, no extra cords required. The sound, meanwhile, is guaranteed to impress thanks to the pair of full-range stereo speakers and dual subwoofers, which provide a far broader and more robust audio range than most systems in the iPod category. Add in True 3D and SRS TruBass audio enhancements and you have a great system for watching movies in addition to listening to music. The speakers are even magnetically shielded, so they won't interfere with the picture when placed near a TV.
Other than the wide-ranging speaker system, the IHT3817DT's most distinguishing feature is its variety of inputs and outputs.
